James M. Doty, MD, FACS, FACSRS

Dr. James Doty is a graduate of Boston University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgical residency at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and a Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida.

Dr. Doty is a Diplomat and Fellow of the American Board of General Surgery and a Diplomat of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He sees patients at University Hospital, Westside Regional Hospital, Plantation General Hospital and Memorial Hospital-West.

He has published in peer reviewed journals and has co-authored book chapters in both general surgery and colorectal text books. Dr. Doty holds an appointment of Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at NOVA Southeastern School of Medicine.

In addition to academic and medical pursuits, Dr. Doty travels to Saint Ard, Haiti to provide surgical care to the underserved population.

He has been in practice in the Plantation area since July of 2004.

His practice includes both evaluation and treatment of general surgical illness as well as specialty practice in the discipline of colon and rectal surgery. He has interests and experience in advanced laparoscopic techniques in the treatment of surgical disease. He also has completed a training course for the use of the Da Vinci surgical robot.
